It's been a bit since I made an actual "Gym Fitness Video" and I have been wanting to make an Ab workout video for you that didn't require a Total Gym this time. I have done an Ab workout video on my Total Gym so make sure to check that one out also.
In this video I show you all of the Ab exercises I do and for the most part all you need is a bit of floor space for them so anyone should be able to do them at home. Keep in mind I only do one big set of Ab exercises after my main workout, I don't do all these Ab routines each time, just one.
As for an update on how my "Lose a few pounds" program is going... slow but steady, I am down to about 176 which is 8 pounds lower than when I started and I would have to say I have gained at least 2-3 pounds of muscle in that time so I am down about 10 pounds of fat.
Starting Point
Week 9
I know I have been promising a Fitbit Scale Product Review, I plan to do this for you next week so keep posted :)
Today I decided to bring you along with me on a bike ride, I rode about 3-4 miles to get to my local BMX Track where I took several laps and had the cameras (Sony HDR & PivotHead HD Camera Glasses) rolling for some of them to give you a 1st person ride along with me.
Biking is a great way to burn off a lot of calories while having way more fun than doing indoor cardio equipment or even jogging, biking is also one of the best ways to build strong legs. As I get older I take it a bit easier, the last thing I want to do is break an arm right before summer, my son would not be happy if I could not ride with him as he is a big bike fan and loves going to the BMX track with me.
Hope you enjoy hanging out with me while I ride my bike...
I know not everyone has workout gear at home and the truth is there are lots of items around your house that you can use to get a good workout, today I show you some exercises you can do using standard kitchen chairs.
I show you how you can do dips to get a great triceps and chest workout, I also show you how you can use chairs to get a deeper pushup and also an inclined pushup which will really work the chest area. I also demonstrate how you can use the weight of teh chairs for some shoulder exercises similar to using dumbbells.
I am at week seven now in my lose a few pounds program and I think I am starting to see some improvements again, I am down to right around 177 pounds but have definitely shed some pounds in the mid section, I can see more tone coming through now. The Jawbone UP and Fitbit scale have really helped me to stay on track with my exercises and food tracking.
This is my first product review, I won't be going into crazy detail here, most of the basics are covered in my YouTube video.
So what exactly is the Jawbone UP? It's an electronic wrist band that has motion sensors and a vibration motor in it, the motion sensors are used to track your movement, this movement is used to determine what type of activity you are doing and combined with your body weight and gender this information can determine how many calories you are burning throughout the day.
The Jawbone UP can also use movement data while you are in a sleep setting to track your sleep patterns so you can see exactly how long you slept and also when you where in a deep sleep as opposed to lighter sleep. Based on this information the Jawbone UP can wake you using vibration right after you come out of a deep sleep but before you need to wake up and get going so you will not interrupt your deep sleep cycle and wake up groggy or tired.
The Jawbone UP is designed to work with your iOS device or Android phone, you simply pop off the cap to reveal a headphone styled jack that you plug into your device while running the App. The data is transferred and analyzed right in the App immediately showing you your data in interactive charts and graphs, you can also enter other information manually like workouts and food consumed to further refine your calories consumed and burned. All of this information is stored in the "cloud" online so it can be accessed using your UP account online through the Jawbone UP website.
The Jawbone UP has a built in battery that keeps it charged for up to 11 days, when the battery gets low you again pop off the cap and plug in the device to a USB based charging adaptor. There is only one metallic button on the UP that you push adn hold once to switch between day and night modes, the Jawbone UP is water proof to a degree and fully wearable in the shower but you may want to take it off for swimming as it is not water proof at deeper depths.
Makse sure to watch my YouTube Video Rewiew of the Jawbone UP to see it in action:
