Las Vegas Trip 2023 - NAB Show - Insta360 Flo

Last week I actually got to go on a sort of vacation, kind of work related but when you go to Las Vegas you always go for some fun too.

Some of you may ask if it was wise to go out of country on a trip so shortly after my open Heart surgery? Perhaps not but I have been feeling really good and my travel insurance covers everything else other than anything heart related because of my recent documented heart condition. So it really came down to if I felt like there was a possibility of something heart related resulting in me needing outside of Canada medical attention and I was confident this would not be the case.

So what did I do in Las Vegas. The main purpose of the trip was to go to the NAB Show (National Association of Broadcasters). I was traveling with two others that both work in the Film Industry, not so much myself but I wanted to check out the show and see what might interest me there.

Most of the booths did not interest me all that much but I did find a few booths geared more towards my needs such as DJI, Insta360 and Zhiyun all of which offer Smartphone mounted Gimbals, which I was in the market for.

After review I did choose to go with the Insta360 Flow Smartphone Gimbal because of it's very compact size and superior tracking. I have included a quick unboxing with initial thoughts porting in this video with many of the Las Vegas clips using the Insta360 Flow.

Bumping into Dana White on Fremont Street Las Vegas Trip

 

Last week I went to Las Vegas with a group of friends to have some no kids fun with my wife Nicole and of course the rest of the gang. We stayed in the WorldMark Hotel on Boulevard Street just off the strip but with easy shuttle access to the strip.

We had a great time and spent most days at the WorldMark Resort enjoying the pool and lazy river with friends and a medley of assorted drinks... In the evenings we would then take the shuttle to the strip for food, shopping and fun! My Wife and I have a few favorite eats and we also like to drop by a Fat Tuesdays for our 32 ounce 190 Octane slushy with two shots of Everclear. I guarantee this combo will get any party started in no time!

I have to say the highlight of our trip was bumping into Dana White (The president of the UFC) on Fremont Street of all places. I had had my share of drinks which I think gave me some liquid courage, at least enough to go up and start a conversation with Dana. As it turned out Dana is super humble and cool and actually stuck around to talk with us for a while, Dana even came back after getting a slushy drink for some more conversation with the group. Thank you so much Dana for sharing your time with us crazy somewhat inebriated Canadians!
