CrossFit Style - No Resting - Legs Only Workout

Today's full CrossFit Style (Sort-of) workout focuses entirely on legs, the reason it is CrossFit Style is because I rotate through my exercises with little to no breaks and incorporate elliptical as my extra cardio, so basically the entire workout is all cardio while still getting a complete leg workout in.

I do six rounds in this workout, the first three rounds rotate between squats, calf raises and 1 minute of high intensity elliptical while the last three rounds I switch over to sets of Leg raises and Leg extensions along with my 1 minute of high intensity elliptical again. The entire workout lasted around 25 minutes so I made it a 30 minute workout by finishing up doing my last 5 minutes on the elliptical. This workout was an easy 500 calories burned with my entire lower body getting worked over while also getting a full cardio workout. That's what makes the CrossFit concept (even if not entirely strict) supper awesome!

CrossFit Style Workout - Leg Extensions and Curls - Back - Abs

Here is another CrossFit Style workout for you, in this CrossFit workout I focus on Legs and Back with some Abs at the end. This is not a true CrossFit workout as I do focus a bit more on some body building isolation type exercises but the idea of incorporating cardio and strength training in a non-stop styled workout is similar to a CrossFit workout.

Here is what I do in this workout: For Legs I do three sets of Leg Extensions and then three sets of Leg Curls. For Back I do three sets of Wide Pull-ups followed by three sets of Narrow Pull-ups ending with three sets of Bar-rows. For my Abs I do three sets of Wheel Roll-outs. Between each double set I do one minute of high intensity Elliptical. The entire workout lasts about 40 minutes and I only rest just long enough for some stretching, some weight adjustments and to catch my breath so I have enough energy to do each set properly.

CrossFit Style Workout - Legs - Chest - Abs

I mentioned I was going to be showing you some of my real world CrossFit Style workouts and so this marks the first of hopefully a bunch of my Crossfit Style home workouts I will share with you :)

This workout is by no means a true CrossFit workout but it does share some similarities with CrossFit, mainly the none-stop pace incorporating typical cardio exercises with muscle building exercises. In CrossFit you generally do not do any isolation exercises (one muscle group at a time) but rather do compound exercises. I kind of mix it all together and make my own version of a CrossFit workout that incorporates some more dedicated and focussed muscle building movements.

In CrossFit I would also try to never stop moving but in my Hybrid workout I do take a few breathers, but only so I have enough energy to do a complete and full effort set.

When I made this video I kind of ran out of card space so there is a bit missing but you will get the idea of how it all works.

Lower Body Quick Tips Using Total Gym

I know I have gone on record for saying I didn't think the Total Gym was rally a good leg exercise machine, well at least for me as I have pretty strong legs and find I can max out the Total Gym pretty quick.

Part of the problem was I did not have the right attachments for my Total Gym. Well I recently upgraded my Total Gym to a new XLS version and I got the Pilates kit which includes the Pilates Toe Bar and Leg Pulley Accessory. I also added the Wing Attachment to my new Total Gym which comes in really handy when doing Leg Curls.

With all of the new Total Gym gear I can do a really good leg workout that compliments my free weight leg day nicely! so make sure to watch this Lower Body Quick Tips Using Total Gym YouTube Video and see some of my favorite Total Gym leg exercises!
