Vancouver Pro Am - BC Championships - So How did I do?

First off, I have some more videos form the Vancouver Pro Am - BC Championships to share with you guys from the actual day of competition. I will have some iPhone Vlogging style video with some back stage stuff and my wife Nicole took some higher quality video of the show from an audience perspective so there will also be that to share with everyone. For now I have some lower quality photos I grabbed off of the the Muscle Insider website that will give you an idea of how I looked up on stage but I will be posting much higher quality photos taken by David Ford Photography that I paid for at the show, I just need to wait a couple of days before I get those ones.

So how did I do? Well Great! I got first in my age category (Men's Physique Masters 40+) and I also placed 2nd in Men's Physique Open which is an "open class" for all ages which means I am competing with guys that could literally be my own kids ;) The Men's Physique Open Class is extremely competitive since there are a lot more younger guys competing then guys in there 40's. That said, all the competition in both Masters and Open was very well represented and everyone out there deserved to be on that stage along side one another...

What does this all mean for me moving forward? I am now qualified to compete at the Canadian National level and represent the Province of BC in both Men's Physique Masters and Open. The next Canadian National competition will be held on August 13 2016 in New Westminster BC only 5 weeks from now so I have my work cut out for me as I need to bring my game up a notch as this is next level stuff we're talking about here! So wish me luck, this adventure just got a little more interesting!

Vancouver Pro Am - BC Championships - 1 Day Out

My wife and I had a nice kind of relaxing day with nothing that had to be done at any given time. In the morning I did some exfoliating and trimming which is a must prior to getting your tan on. Afterwards we walked back down to the Vancouver Pro AM Expo to checkout what was going on.As I was expecting there where a lot of supplement and clothing companies to checkout. My wife Nicole and I both really liked some protein cookies we sample called Mama T's Protein Cookies that had 21 grams of protein in each cookie! We even bought a bunch of them to take home with us.

Another highlight was getting to meet Dana and Rob (Dana Linn Bailey). They where super nice and I got some photos and video to remember the occasion by. After the Expo we headed home where I did my last close shave and exfoliation followed by my spray tan. I will be applying the bronzer next before I head to bed which may need a touch up in the morning. Other than that I am pretty much ready for my big Men's Physique showing tomorrow at the Vancouver Pro Am BC Championships.

Vancouver Pro Am - BC Championships - 2 Days Out

Today I got up kind of early to get some of my email and social media stuff out of the way, then I headed off to Fit4Less Langley for my last 9 minute stand up tanning session. My Black Fit4Less Membership which is under $20 per month gives me free tanning which when I'm in contest prep mode saves me a lot of money.

My wife Nicole and I had pretty much packed everything up yesterday so once I got back from tanning, we headed out the door to drive to Vancouver (about an hour) to book into the WorldMark Canadian and then make make our way to the BC Championships BCABBA Athletes meeting which was at 2:30pm. As it turned out our hotel room was not ready just yet so we dropped our luggage and food off at the WorldMark and then walked to the Vancouver Convention Center which was only about a 15 minute walk from our hotel!

The BCABBA Athletes meeting took about 2 hours, mainly for all of us to get signed in, pickup our passes and pins, get measured up for class verification and make sure our outfits where to speck! And that's where the highlights for the day pretty much end. After that we walked back to our room to get unpacked and settled in for the evening.

Tomorrow we head back to the Vancouver Convention Center to checkout the Expo since I have nothing else scheduled on Saturday. Sunday will be the big day where I step on stage for the Vancouver Pro Am - BC Championships.

Vancouver Pro Am - BC Championships - 3 Days Out

Today was my last workout day and I'm officially 3 days away from my make it or break showing at the Vancouver Pro Am - BC Championships. I have the opportunity to claim my position at the Nationals representing British Columbia for Masters and Open in Men's Physique. Well at least that's the plan.

Getting back to today and the many events that took place... I actually felt pretty good, I think my body has finally gotten use to the lower carbs and lower body fat. My 2 hour full upper body workout was very productive and I was able to burn about 1400 calories :) I have included sample video of the exercises I performed in today's workout.

Today I had a lot of running around to do getting ready along with all of my food prep for while my wife and I are away. And of course since we are heading off pretty early tomorrow morning (after I get my last tan in), I needed to pack tonight, so here I am at 2AM getting this video and post ready to publish...

BC Championships - 4 Days Out - Second Guessing Myself

Wow, the Vancouver Pro Am BC Championships is just around the corner now, I did my last leg workout today and tomorrow will be my last workout till the show on Sunday, I plan to do a full upper body hit.

The closer I get to my Men's Physique Fitness Competition, the more thoughts that go through my mind, mainly I wonder what the judges will be looking for this time around and will I have what they are looking for or will I miss the mark?

In these fitness shows at the end of the day it is all decided by the judges and even if you feel you brought the right package it could be not exactly what they are looking for on this day. I am hoping the judges will favor the more conditioned and less bulky look over the larger softer look but it's hard to say. I can only hope I have prepared myself for what they find aesthetic and proportioned...
