Basis Health Tracker Watch On Its Way!

I recently picked up the MIO Alpha Wrist Watch Heart Rate Sensor and mentioned I had planned to get the Basis Health Tracker Watch (Basis Website) at some time, well the time is here! I am still testing the MIO Alpha and once that is done I will move on to the Basis Health Tracker Watch.

The Basis Health Tracker Watch like the MIO Alpha has a heart rate sensor built into the back of the watch, but the Basis also has the added features of tracking motion, perspiration and even body and outside temperatures. the Basis Health Tracker Watch also stores this data on the watch until synced with a device.

Look forward to my Unboxing and full Review Videos of my Basis Carbon Steel Edition when they are available.

Back to the Basics - Body Weight Only Full Body Workout

In this "Back to the Basics" YouTube Video I show you a Full Body Workout using only your body weight. Well I bring in some dumbbells for some option add on exercises but they are not required to get a full body workout.

The main exercises I show you are: the push-up, the pull-up and chin-up, the air squat, the single leg lunge and sit-ups and crunches. I show you proper technique along with scalable variations for all levels of fitness even beginners.

Using your body weight with the right exercises and from is a great way to build muscle and shape, and you can even get a cardiovascular workout at the same time if you pick up the pace! This workout can take as little as 10-15 minutes or you can do more reps and sets for a longer more aggressive workout.

Supplements - Counting Calories - Get Out There - Get Fit Over 40 Video Requests

My second video request YouTube Video and this one is from Jeff, parts unknown???

Jeff really didn't ask me to share my opinion too much but rather shared his in an email he sent me and thought the topics would make for a good video and  being that for teh most part, I agree with Jeff's points I thought I would simply read back his email and interject a few of my own thoughts.

Here is Jeff's original Video Request email he sent me:

"Mike,

I tried to find a video on your site about the pros and cons of supplements, be it Protein Powders, creatine, etc...  Personally, I have used them all at some point or another, I have both Casein and Whey protein powder at home.  I also take glucosamine / msm, and really believe it helps my joints when I take it regularly over a long time.  I think there is a psychological benefit to supplements for me, if I am spending money to aid in my goals, I am more likely to continue training because of this (especially when I don't want to).I also give myself a budget to spend on myself getting healthy, be it supplements, gadgets, workout clothing, weights.

I also find (like you said in one of your videos) that if I log my food intake daily, that I am more likely to achieve my goals, I currently use www.fitday.com and www.myfitnesspal.com for this. What I like about these, is if I find at the end of the day that I have consumed more than I should to meet my weight loss goal, I will get up and take a walk/jog to burn the extra calories.

One last thing I do that really seems to help is just getting outside and go hiking/walking/running. Every time I get out and do something, I see people who inspire me, whether it's the person who is much heavier than me struggling to get up a hill, or the people in much better shape, blowing by me as I struggle. In general, most people out there are friendly, everyone says hello with a smile, it's very encouraging.

I've watched a lot of your videos and really do enjoy them, I'm not sure I'll ever get to where you are, but there for sure is room for improvement in me.

Thanks,

Jeff"

MIO Alpha Strapless Continuous Heart Rate Watch Unboxing

I got another tech based fitness device I will be sharing with everyone. This one is a stand alone Continuous Heart Rate Watch that does not require a chest strap to be used and it is made by MIO, the name of this product is the MIO Alpha. This video is the unboxing video where I show you around the MIO Alpha and give you my initial thoughts on the presentation and packaging.

To give you a basic understanding of what the MIO Alpha is used for, it can be compared to a heart rate chest strap as there are many similarities. Both devices read your heart rate very accurately and continuously, both a chest strap and the MIO Alpha use Bluetooth wireless technologies to send your heart rate info to another device like a smart phone where that information is stored and can be recalled and examined. Neither device stores your heart rate info or can be used on their own.

The advantage to the MIO Alpha is that it is worn on your wrist like a watch so you don't have to wear a chest strap. The MIO Alpha also has a screen that shows you your heart rate in real time along with a timer and of course a clock.
