Onewheel vs EUC Which is Better

Onewheel vs EUC Which is Better? The great debate! If you own a Onewheel, then you probably think the One Wheel is the better machine. If you own an EUC (Electric Unicycle), then you probably think the EUC is the best! What if you own both?

So I'm not going to give a definitive answer here as both PEV's (Personal Electric Vehicle) have their own strengths and weaknesses. In this video I try and cover the Pro's and Con's for each PEV and let you decide which one is the best for you!

Here are some strength and weaknesses for each Personal Electric Vehicle:

  • Speed for sure goes to the EUC as some can go as fast as 100kmh, mine does around 70kmh, compared to a Onewheel, where max speed is typically 30+kmh if you are brave.
  • Battery life again goes to the EUC as many are capable of 100km to even as high as 200km! A Onewheel tops out at 30-40km and that's for the latest and greatest GT version, older versions can have a limit of around 10km.
  • Size and weight would in most cases go to the Onewheel as they typically weigh around 25-30 pounds with the GT version weighing in at 35 pounds. Earlier versions of EUC's did weigh around the same but the trend for EUC's is to "go big or go home" with some larger faster units weighing in over 100 pounds. My personal Kingsong S22 weighs in at around 75 pounds but has some big ass batteries in it giving me a range of up to 100km.
  • Portability: I would say it ties in to size and weight but I portability is more about carrying the PEV around and stashing it in a trunk or under a seat. Again earlier smaller versions of EUC's would be comparable to a Onewheel here but since most of the new much larger more popular EUC's are now the norm, I would have to go with the Onewheel in terms of portability.
  • What about power: Kind of like speed, but power does not always equal speed, it often represents how much torque a motor has which is usually measured in Watts. Most Onewheel's have a 750 Watt motor and so do some smaller lighter EUC's. You can however get an EUC with a motor capable of 3500 watts that have a peak watt output of up to 6000 watts, that's crazy I know! This power means you can climb almost any hill on an EUC while Onewheel's do have their limitations when it comes to hill climbing.
  • Coolness Factor: I would say both are equally cool so this one's a draw.
  • Fun Riding: And this one again is a draw for me as both are fun in their own way. When riding a OneWheel I am more relaxed and just having fun while on the EUC I switch in to intensity mode as the speed and acceleration kind of takes ahold of me. I guess it really depends on the day as to what PEV I feel like riding and what kind of trip I plan to make.
  • Price: A Onewheel can cost anywhere from around $1000US for a Pint up to $2200 for a GT, that would be new prices but Onewheel for sure do hold their value. On the other hand you can also get an EUC for even under $1000US but they also go up to well over $4000US for the latest and greatest high speed long range EUC's. So considering average price to buy new and resale value I would give the win to the Onewheel here.
  • Terrain you can ride on: The EUC has this category in my books, many new EUC's even have suspension giving them the ability to ride even on extreme Mountain bike trails and do crazy jumps. On the other hand the Onewheel is not as functional off roading as an EUC, but you can ride trails and hop off curbs and even take small jumps if you are a more experienced rider.

Hopefully that gives you a good idea on a Onewheel vs EUC and Which is Better. It really comes down to what your needs are and what you plan on doing with one of these very awesome PEVs...

Road to Recovery - 4 Months Off TRT

In this video I talk openly about what I feel like being off TRT 100% for 4 months. As many of you know I had major heart issues that I became aware of in early January 2023 resulting in my having to have open heart surgery to replace my Aortic Valve and a portion of the artery above it. This was a result of a genetic defect I was born with.

Because of this I stopped all hormone therapy 100% and at the moment I am getting blood work to check on my Testosterone levels to see where they are at after several years of being on TRT. As expected my Testosterone is not very high now being off TRT but surprisingly better than I thought it would be. I will being getting my Testosterone checked out again in a couple of weeks to see where I am at and then have a discussion with my doctor to see what may be the best course of action moving forward...

I also talk a lot in this video about how I am personally feeling and how this is effecting me now that my testosterone is very low as compared to when I was on TRT.

Las Vegas Trip 2023 - NAB Show - Insta360 Flo

Last week I actually got to go on a sort of vacation, kind of work related but when you go to Las Vegas you always go for some fun too.

Some of you may ask if it was wise to go out of country on a trip so shortly after my open Heart surgery? Perhaps not but I have been feeling really good and my travel insurance covers everything else other than anything heart related because of my recent documented heart condition. So it really came down to if I felt like there was a possibility of something heart related resulting in me needing outside of Canada medical attention and I was confident this would not be the case.

So what did I do in Las Vegas. The main purpose of the trip was to go to the NAB Show (National Association of Broadcasters). I was traveling with two others that both work in the Film Industry, not so much myself but I wanted to check out the show and see what might interest me there.

Most of the booths did not interest me all that much but I did find a few booths geared more towards my needs such as DJI, Insta360 and Zhiyun all of which offer Smartphone mounted Gimbals, which I was in the market for.

After review I did choose to go with the Insta360 Flow Smartphone Gimbal because of it's very compact size and superior tracking. I have included a quick unboxing with initial thoughts porting in this video with many of the Las Vegas clips using the Insta360 Flow.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of Las Vegas!

Custom EUC Fairings & Agro Power Pads for Kingsong S22

As you are probably aware by now I am really into riding my EUC (Electric Unicycle). I was not happy with the factory Power Pads my Kingsong S22 came with so I ordered a pair of V2 Agro Power Pads from e-Rides but as the stock mounting area on the Kingsong S22 is not all that wide (just over 8 inches), I needed more area to mount the new 2 piece Power Pads I bought from e-Rides. You can buy what are called Fairings or Power Pad Plate for the Kingsong S22 for about $50-$60 but you will have to also add on shipping, import fees, and taxes and also wait for your order to arrive...

Or you can do what I did which was buy some ABS 12x12 sheets from Amazon for about $45 and cut them to shape, add Velcro and Bob's your uncle, you now have yourself custom Fairings that give you 12 inches of space to mount your Power Pads to. Keep in mind you will need some tools (clamps and a hacksaw blade) to cut the ABS plates to shape and of course some additional Velcro to attach them to your EUC.

Kingsong S22 EUC CNC Bearing Slider Upgrade - Huge Improvement!

This video kind of relates to fitness, maybe not a lot but for sure to some degree. After all I have been taking out my EUC (Electric Unicycle) a fair amount and ti is surprising how much exercise I get especially if I get on some more windy trails that require a lot more body language. I can really feel my heart rate and breathing go up and work up a sweat.

Anyway in this video I show you the steps to upgrade the Suspension Rails on the Kingsong S22 to a much smoother Bearing Slider rather than the stock Plastic Sliders which over time tend to cause a lot of friction to the suspension.

This installation took me about 1.5 hours tops and made a huge difference in the smoothness of the suspension on the Kingsong S22 EUC. If you have an original Kingsong S22 then I highly suggest you upgrade the sliders the same way I did. You can get the same sliders I installed from eevee's which is a Vancouver based EUC shop.
