Posing 3 Weeks Out WC Iron Vancity Showdown 2020

Here we are three weeks out from the Westcoast Iron Vancity Showdown being held on October 11th here in New Westminster Canada. I had a really great week last week in terms of sticking to my program, I kept to my caloric deficit and basic macros, got all my workouts in and lots of walking each day.

I'm still up and close to 200 pounds even in the morning so for sure maybe even over 200 pounds in the evening which normally at this point I would be a bit concerned about as I would say it's about 5 pounds over where I normally am at 3 weeks out from a show. That said the way my belts are fitting and the amount of fat around my waist and lower back is more in line with being at 2-3 weeks out so the scale does not tell all.

I contribute being a bit heavier (more muscle) with a longer prep time mostly because of Covid and the fact that I have had a lot of time to get ready for this show since I was not even sure what show or even if there was going to be a show this year. So I have been kind of prepping for a while now, getting 6 workouts in per week and eating much cleaner and better than in a non prep situation.

I still have three weeks to get in what I hope to be the best shape I have ever been in even at 51 years old now. So keep following along to see how far I can take it this time!

4 Weeks Out - WC Iron Vancity Showdown

It's now about a month out from the West Coast Iron Vancity Showdown or in other word weeks out and it's time to get serious about my Contest Prep. I've been fairly on track so far but the last couple of weeks had their challenges with two separate mini vacations.

The first was a two day get away with my Wife Nicole into Downtown Vancouver where we stayed at the WorldMark Canadian and did some downtown activities that involved a lot of walking and of course some wining and dining.

Shortly after the entire family hopped in the truck and we headed over to Ucluelet on Vancouver Island where we stayed at the Black Rock Oceanfront Resort. This was a three day vacations that again involved some walking and eating :)

Overall I did fairly well in terms of damage control while on  vacation but obviously I did not make as much contest prep progress as I would have if I was at home without and had better control over my diet and exercise. All in all I feel I am still on track but need to be on point from this point on.

I do have one more get away that involves a friends 50th birthday in Whistler BC but by that point I plan to be contest ready and with a full week afterwards to dial things in even more if needed.

It Begins... 6 Weeks Out from the West Coast Iron Vancity Showdown

A quick update in terms of contest prep for this year. I kind of eluded to a possible show this year. The only real show I can even do that is local would be the West Coast Iron Vancity Showdown being held here in Vancouver BC Canada. It is a regional show being held on the weekend of the 10th and 11th of October and so far it looks like the show is still moving forward. Let's hope it does not become another victim of Covid and get cancelled!

Right now I am about 6 weeks out from the show and I feel right on target as to where I need to be, I have been chipping away at losing a bit of body fat for the past several months just in case I was able to do a show and as far as my condition 6 weeks out I am probably a bit leaner than I usually am. I may not be as full as I have been in the past but that's OK I plan to add just a little bit of muscle where I need to and trim as much fat as I can so it really shows on stage. Being the most conditioned goes a long way and my experience is it's better to be super sharp then bulky but soft on stage.

Anyway here is what I currently look like 6 weeks out. There is still a lot of work to do but I feel confident I will come in top of my game for the WC Iron Vancity Showdown. In terms of classes I plan to enter Men's Open Physique and Classic Physique. I always love competing with the guys half my age, it really give me a lot of incentive to bring my very best.

Popeye's Fall Classic 2019 Follow Up Video

It's been a little over a week now and so I thought it was time to do a follow-up on my Popeye's Fall Classic 2019 results. I even have my professional stage photos to add to the video so make sure to watch the entire video to see all the photos since they are inserted throughout the video.

In this Popeye's Fall Classic 2019 Follow Up Video I mainly talk about how I felt I did and if I was happy with the what I presented at the show, what would I like to change for any future shows and if there are even going to be any future shows and what they might be...

In summary I am very happy I decided to attend this years Popeye's Fall Classic, I got pretty much exactly the results I was hoping for which was to take home the Overall Trophy in Open Men's Physique and to place top 5 in Open Men's Classic Physique since I really was not prepared to do Classic Physique at all going into this years Popeye's Fall Classic.

Short Road to Popeye's Fall Classic 2019 - 1 Day Out

One more sleep to go, well I say that but I always have a hard time getting a good sleep the bight before a show, too much excitement and thoughts going on in my head. I usually wake up way before my alarm goes off and it's set early believe me so I usually just get up at that point and do something productive like posing practice or getting last minute stuff ready.

Today I got a lot done, stuff like shaving my entire body, getting one last tanning session in, a nice upper body pump over at BodyByBrandt where Dean Brandt also gave me some posing practice tips that really helped out a lot.

I will also be getting my spray tan done early Saturday morning by Leigh Brandt "ProEliteTan" so this time around I will be just as dark as everyone else, not taking any chances at Popeye's Fall Classic!

I also went to the Athletes check-in and meeting, well kind of. I did not get the email telling me that the venue had changed locations and I ended up traveling from Coquitlam to Richmond and back to Coquitlam again in rush hour but did make it just in time to get signed in and setup for the show.

So now it's off to bed for me and hopefully I can get at least a few hours of restful sleep before tomorrow...
